About Susan Betz

MEET SUSAN BETZ

As an author, Honorary Master Gardener, and garden communicator, Susan Betz has built her life’s work at the crossroads of herbal knowledge, natural history, and ecological gardening. For more than 35 years she has been growing, studying, and teaching about herbs and the natural world —sharing herbal knowledge and genuine enthusiasm to audiences ranging from garden clubs and Master Gardener groups to botanical gardens and nature centers. She’s hard-pressed to name a favorite herb, however — she loves them all and considers herbs a way of life!

Susan is a life member of the Herb Society of America and a charter member of both HSA’s Native Herb Conservation Committee and the Society’s sustainable garden initiative. She currently serves on HSA’s Notable Native Herb program and is a contributing author to the Society’s native herb fact sheets, published annually. Her professional affiliations include Garden Communicators International, the Ecological Landscape Alliance, and the National Garden Bureau.

She is the author of three books: Magical Moons & Seasonal Circles: Stepping Into the Circle of the Seasons, Neighboring with Nature: Native Herbs for Purpose and Pleasure, and Herbal Houseplants: Grow Beautiful Herbs Indoors for Flavor, Fragrance, and Fun.

Thank you so much, Susan, and the wonderful and beautiful reminder to plan our gardens.  Your new garden is lovely; the poured concrete border is such a great idea.  Rather than editing sometimes reimagining is better and absolutely more creatively satisfying.  Hugs.
